Emulex (NYSE: ELX):

WHAT:

At Storage Networking World (SNW) Europe, 27-28 October 2009, Emulex is teaming with BLADE Network Technologies (BLADE) to demonstrate the benefits of its OneConnect(TM) Universal Converged Network Adapter (UCNA) architecture in IBM BladeCenter's Virtual Fabric solution, which combines Emulex' Virtual Fabric Adapter CFFh, based on its OneConnect UCNA technology, with BLADE's convergence-ready BNT Virtual Fabric 10G Switch Module. This combined solution provides customers with a new a new level of data center consolidation, efficiency, flexibility and scalability.

The Emulex OneConnect UCNA platform is the only converged network connectivity solution that supports hardware offload and acceleration on a single chip for all major protocols: TCP/IP, TOE, iSCSI and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). The OneConnect UCNA is optimized to support both IP and storage networking demands, enabling data center managers to meet the performance and architecture requirements of networking and storage applications with one integrated adapter solution.

Today, Emulex also published the third edition of Convergenomics(TM) - The Guide to Network Convergence Solutions, which is a comprehensive introduction to network convergence. The book offers IT managers a resource to help them craft their next-generation network strategy and explains how to converge protocols, such as Fibre Channel and iSCSI, onto a 10Gb/s Enhanced Ethernet backbone. The latest edition includes new contributions from key ecosystem participants, including Cisco, Dell, EMC, Force10 Networks, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and VMware in addition to previous contributions from BLADE, Brocade, Cisco, EMC, Fulcrum, Juniper Networks, Novell, Oracle, Panduit, Scalent Systems and VMware.
