Research In Motion Ltd. (Nasdaq: RIMM) 11% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $1.03, ex-items, 3 cents better than the analyst estimate of $1.00. Revenue for the quarter was $3.53 billion, which compares to the estimate of $3.62 billion. Shipped 8.3 million devices in Q2. Sees Q3 sales of $3.6-$3.85 billion, versus the consensus of $3.90 billion, and EPS of $1.00-$1.08, versus the Street estimate of $1.04.

EV Energy Partners, L.P. (NASDAQ: EVEP) 8.1% LOWER; today announced that it has commenced an underwritten public offering of 2.8 million of its common units representing limited partner interests. The partnership also intends to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to 420,000 additional common units to cover over-allotments, if any.

TIBCO (NASDAQ: TIBX) 7% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.13, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.11. Revenue for the quarter was $150.3 million, which compares to the estimate of $144.5 million.

Cepheid (Nasdaq: CPHD) 4.8% HIGHER; Cepheid and Instrumentation Laboratory announced that Cepheid has received clearance from the U.S. FDA to market its Xpert(R) HemosIL(R) FII & FV test. The test detects Factor II and Factor V Leiden genetic variations associated with thrombophilia, an increased risk of blood clots (thrombosis). Xpert HemosIL FII & FV delivers results in just over thirty minutes using a single GeneXpert(R) cartridge. Developed and manufactured by Cepheid, the test will be available worldwide through a partnership with IL, the exclusive worldwide distributor for the Xpert HemosIL FII & FV test.

EZCORP Inc. (NASDAQ: EZPW) 4.3% HIGHER; EZCORP will replace SPSS Inc. (NASDAQ: SPSS) in the S&P SmallCap 600 after the close of trading on a date to be announced.

Analogic Corporation (NYSE: ALOG) 3.7% LOWER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.11, ex-items, 15 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.26. Revenue for the quarter was $98.3 million, which compares to the estimate of $94.52 million.

Solera Holdings Inc. (NYSE: SLH) 3% HIGHER; Solera will replace Metavante Technologies Inc. (NYSE: MV) in the S&P MidCap 400 after the close of trading on Thursday, October 1.

Terra Industries Inc. (NYSE: TRA) 2.8% HIGHER; plans to return an aggregate of approximately $750 million in cash to shareholders through a special cash dividend of $7.50 per share, expected to be declared and paid in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Saba Software Inc. (Nasdaq: SABA) 2.2% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.07, 3 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.04. Revenue for the quarter was $25.8 million, which compares to the estimate of $24.6 million. Saba Software sees FY10 EPS of $0.26-$0.30 versus prior guidance of $0.25-$0.29 and the consensus of $0.28.

US Airways (NYSE: LCC) 2% HIGHER; upgraded to Buy at UBS.

Palm (Nasdaq: PALM) 1.7% LOWER; falling on reports from theStreet.com that the Palm Pre isn't making the cut at Verizon (NYSE: VZ). The report suggests the plan to bring Pre to Verizon in January has been scrapped as Verizon has decided not to support the Pre. theStreet.com cited people close to the discussions.

UAL Corp. (Nasdaq: UAUA) 1.5% HIGHER; upgraded to Buy at UBS.

Hewlett-Packard's (NYSE: HPQ) 1.3% LOWER; sees FY10 operating cash flow of $13 billion, with FY10 sales of $117-$118 billion. The Street is currently looking for FY10 sales of $118.04 billion. Sees FY10 non-GAAP EPS of $4.20-$4.30, versus the consensus of $4.25. Click here for the full report.
