Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) has ended talks to acquire Altera (Nasdaq: ALTR), according to CNBC's David Faber reports. The following was posted to Twitter on Thursday morning:
Intel has ended talks to acquire Altera $INTC made all cash offer in "low $50's and was rejected. Talks has taken place for months- sources.

In March, Intel was said to have made an all cash offer in low $50-per-Altera-share range, which was subsequently rejected. Talks have taken place for months, but were said to have stalled over the last week.
Shares of Altera fell as much as 10 percent in early trading Thursday, while Intel has seen downside, as well.
