U.S. antitrust lawyers were said to be leaning against the $45.2 billion Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA), Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) merger agreement, according to Bloomberg.
UPDATE - U.S. Department of Justice antitrust lawyers may be near a recommendation to block the deal, feeling like customers would ultimately be harmed.
The DoJ lawyers may submit their review as soon as next week.
Lawyers have been contacting outside parties over the last few weeks in order to shore-up evidence in their case should they decide to proceed forward.
It was also noted that Federal Communications Commission officials weren't negotiating with Comcast about what conditions would need to be met in order for the merger to ease concerns.
Comcast and Time Warner Cable both fell to session lows following the headlines.
