Activision Blizzard (Nasdaq: ATVI) has just announced that its Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, in its first 5 days since the release, has become the most grossing media item ever. The game has now sold units totaling $550 million worldwide, surpassing Grand Theft Auto IV at $500 million and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at $394 million.

In the same release, however, Activision Blizzard said that it "remains cautious about the U.S. and global economy as well as other variables that can affect industry fundamentals and our own performance, including consumer spending which remains a significant concern."
