Dr. Ravi Vij, associate professor at the department of Medicine at Washington University, told analyst Ling Wang of Summer Street that Kyprolis may eventually be used in the majority of his 3rd-line or higher patients. He is also hoping to use it in 2nd-line patients, assuming he doesn’t get pushback on reimbursement.
Vij doesn’t expect higher dose Kyprolis front-line use before official approval, but he has treated a dozen patients with Kyprolis over past two weeks. Initial patients treated tend to be heavily pretreated, 4th or 5th line patients.
Shares of Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ONXX) are higher by 70 percent year-to-day.
