Three heavily armed people were arrested Tuesday at the Holland Tunnel seeking to enter New York City, NBC 4 reported citing local authorities. The suspects were stopped and searched at the New Jersey side of the tunnel at around 8AM ET.
Two of the suspects were men in the 50s and the other was a woman in her 20s. The suspects may have been from Pennsylvania.
The suspects were pulled over for a cracked windshield near the tunnel when police discovered a cache of weapons in the vehicle.
Long-range rifles and handguns were sized. In addition, a camouflage helmet that may have had night-vision goggles attached was also taken.
At this time, the suspects are being called "gun enthusiasts" with no known terror links.
