ADP Report Shows Private Sector Employment Sank 697,000 In February

According to today's ADP National Employment Report, private sector employment decreased by 697,000 in February. The consensus was a drop of 630,000. Last month's reading was revised to a drop of 614,000.

ADP's data showed the Goods-producing sector lost 338,000 jobs and the service sector lost 359,000 jobs. Employment in the manufacturing sector declined 219,000.

Large businesses, defined as those with 500 or more workers, saw employment decline 121,000, while medium-size businesses with between 50 and 499 workers declined 314,000. Employment among small-size businesses, defined as those with fewer than 50 workers, declined 262,000.
