You've Got Profit! AOL (AOL) Bests Q1 Views on Lower Costs; Display Ad Revs Flat

AOL, Inc. (NYSE: AOL) shares are indicated for a higher open Monday following its first-quarter earnings report, issued ahead of the bell.

AOL's sales dropped 4 percent to $529.4 million. Amid the top-line slump, earnings ripped 350 percent to $21.1 million, or 22 cents per share. Adjusting for certain items, AOL's EPS moved to 31 cents.

The Street was expecting revs of $526.5 million and EPS of 7 cents.

Display Ad revs rose just 1 percent to $130.3 million while a 15 percent in Subscription revs had the biggest downside impact.

AOL reported Adjusted OBIDA, which fell 5 percent, saw its lowest rate of decline in four years.

Traffic Acquisition Costs moved from $71.4 million in the same quarter last year up to $80.8 million.

AOL shares are up 1.6 percent ahead of the bell Wednesday.
