Valmont Industries, Inc. (NYSE: VMI) reports Q4 EPS $1.09, 5 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $493.1 million vs. $454.16 million consensus.

Mogens C. Bay, Chairman and CEO, says, "Current global economic uncertainty makes our outlook for 2009 hard to quantify. For the first quarter, when we balance the plusses and minuses, we expect that increased utility revenue will more than offset a decline in global irrigation revenue. We currently expect total revenue to be higher for the quarter and we expect earnings to be similar to the record first quarter 2008, depending on product mix and factory utilization. We will continue to update our outlook on a quarterly basis throughout the year."

Valmont Industries, Inc. is a diversified global producer of fabricated metal products, and a producer of metal and concrete pole and tower structures in its Engineered Support Structures and Utilities Support Structures businesses, and is a global producer of mechanized irrigation systems in its Irrigation business.
