Nuance Communications, Inc. (NUAN) Reports In-Line Q3 EPS; Issues Light Q4 Outlook

Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN) reported Q3 EPS of $0.27, in-line with the analyst estimate of $0.27. Revenue for the quarter came in at $475.5 million versus the consensus estimate of $498.56 million.

In the third quarter of fiscal 2014, Nuance delivered year-over-year bookings growth of 17% and deferred revenue growth of 32%. Through the first three quarters of the fiscal year, total bookings have grown 28%, exceeding guidance, and the growth rate for on-demand bookings was materially higher. Bookings strength in the quarter was led by healthcare on-demand, Dragon Medical, automotive, Enterprise OnDemand and MFP printing solutions.

Call Option for 2027 Convertible Notes

Nuance today also announced that it is calling for redemption the remaining $250 million aggregate principal amount of its 2.75% senior convertible debentures due 2027 (the “Debentures”). Upon redemption, holders of the Debentures will receive cash equal to $1,000 per $1,000 principal amount of the Debentures, together with any accrued and unpaid interest on the Debentures being redeemed to, but excluding, the redemption date. As a result of the announced redemption, the Debentures are becoming convertible in accordance with their terms.

Guidance:

Nuance sees Q4 adjusted EPS of $0.24 - $0.29 and revs of $500 to $520 million, with consensus views looking for EPS of $0.34 and revs of $542.3 million.
