FiLife's New Facebook Contest Asks If The Recession Is Over

October 15, 2009 9:26 AM EDT

NEW YORK, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- While Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke proclaimed last month that "the recession is very likely over," the national unemployment level continues to rise and the housing market remains in a stagnant position. With these elements as the backdrop, FiLife (www.FiLife.com), the joint venture between Dow Jones and IAC (Nasdaq: IACI), today announced a new contest on its Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/FiLife), asking users if the recession is over or not. One winner will receive $500.00 for dinner out with their friends.

In the FiLife "Recession: over or not?" Facebook sweepstakes, contestants are invited to vote "yes" or "no" to the question, and are given an option to provide a rationale for their choice. One winner will be chosen from all eligible entries that are received before 9 am ET on October 28.

"We know the recession remains top of mind with the FiLife community. By reaching out through Facebook, with its more than 300 million active users, we're inviting everyone to weigh in with their opinion. It's a perfect venue for the FiLife 'Recession: over or not?' contest," said Ezra Kucharz, President and General Manager of FiLife.
