Dollar General (DG) Tops Q3 EPS by 3c; Comps Up 6.3%; Boosts FY11 EPS Outlook; OKs $500M Buyback

Dollar General (NYSE: DG) reported Q3 EPS of $0.50, $0.03 better than the analyst estimate of $0.47. Revenue for the quarter came in at $3.6 billion versus the consensus estimate of $3.57 billion.

Third Quarter Same-Store Sales Increased 6.3%; Total Sales Improved 11.5%

Dollar General sees FY2011 EPS of $2.29-$2.32, versus prior guidance of $2.22-$2.30 and the consensus of $2.29.

Authorizes $500 million buyback.
