Boston Beer Co. (SAM) Tops Q4 EPS by 53c

Boston Beer Co. (NYSE: SAM) reported Q4 EPS of $1.75, $0.53 better than the analyst estimate of $1.22. Revenue for the quarter came in at $219.4 million versus the consensus estimate of $214.42 million.

Jim Koch, Chairman and Founder of the Company, commented (emphasis ours), "We are disappointed with our depletion trends in 2016, which have remained weak so far in 2017. These trends are affected by the general softening of the craft beer category and cider category and a more challenging retail environment with a lot of new options for our drinkers.

Guidance:

Sees FY 2017 EPS $4.20-$6.20 ex-items versus consensus of $6.44.
