Trump to Remove Bannon - Reports
(Updated - August 18, 2017 12:46 PM EDT)
Stocks traded slightly higher Friday on rumors chief strategist Stephen Bannon will leave the White House. Some Investors were hopeful that his departure would mean other, pro-growth-agenda White House officials, including Gary Cohn, would stick around.
The rumor was first reported by Axios and later confirmed by Drudge and the New York Times, though the New York Times said aides cautioned Trump could reverse course and keep Bannon.
The New York Times reported that senior aids decided to remove Bannon but were debating when and how to dismiss him.
A person close to Bannon insisted the parting of ways was his idea and said he had submitted his resignation to the president on August 7, but the announcement was delayed due to recent events, reported the New York Times.
