Notable ETF Movers of the Day 10/22: (KOL) (XME) Higher; (IBB) Lower

Gainers:

Market Vectors Coal ETF (NYSE: KOL) gained 2.75 percent to 25.75. Coal stocks are moving higher today after Peabody Energy Corp. (NYSE: BTU) reported Q3 earnings and guidance that was above consensus. Shares of Arch Coal Inc. (NYSE: ACI), Consol Energy (NYSE: CNX), and Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE: ANR) are all higher early on Monday. Peabody Energy Corp. (NYSE: BTU) is higher by 12.75 percent.

SPDR S&P Metals & Mining (NYSE: XME) gained 1.14 percent to 46.18. Despite the gains, it was a mixed day for metals and mining. While steal names like United States Steel (NYSE: X) performed well, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (NYSE: FCX) shares declined 2.7 percent following its Q3 earnings report.

Decliners:

iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology (Nasdaq: IBB) declined 1.15 percent to 137.80. Shares of Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ALXN) fell 6 percent, continuing a slide that began on Friday. Alexion is the top holding in IBB. It is scheduled to report earnings later this week.
