Notable ETF Movers of the Day 09/26: (XME) Higher; (TAN) (XHB) Lower

Gainers:

SPDR S&P Metals & Mining (NYSE: XME) gained 1 percent to 43.39. Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE: ANR) was among the winners in the sector today as shorts took profit after a multi-day decline. In the past 5 days, Alpha is lower by 7.8 percent. Year-to-date it is lower by 70 percent, but many are hoping a bottom is in place and that today’s 3.5 percent rally will lead to further gains.

Decliners:

Guggenheim Solar (NYSE: TAN) declined 3 percent to 16.71. GT Advanced Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: GTAT) declined 6.8 percent after the company was downgraded by analysts at Canaccord Genuity. GT Advanced Technologies has an 8.3 percent weighting in TAN.

SPDR S&P Homebuilders (NYSE: XHB) declined by 1.9 percent to 24.70. Homebuilder stocks were hit by a second day of profit taking. Shares of Standard Pacific (NYSE: SPF) tanked 5 percent, making it one of the biggest drages on the ETFSPF has a 3.7 percent weighting in XHB.
