Notable ETF Movers of the Day 04/16: (IYR) (TAN) (XLF) Higher; (FXI) (QQQ) Lower

  • iShares Dow Jones US Real Estate (NYSE: IYR) up 0.85 percent to $61.51. Amid mixed economic data Monday, the real estate ETF is moving higher on the wings of Vornado (NYSE: VNO), which filed its Chairman's Letter to Shareholders and Annual Report late Friday. Vornado is up 3.4 percent on the session.

  • Guggenheim Solar (NYSE: TAN) up 0.08 percent to $22.50. Solars moving on data that German solar installations surged in the first-quarter as well as CNOOC (NYSE: CEO) potentially making a bid for Canadian Solar (Nasdaq: CSIQ).

  • Financial Select Sector SPDR (NYSE: XLF) up 0.17 percent to $15.15. Finacials moving higher after Citigroup (NYSE: C) reported swing to profit during the first-quarter of 2012. Revenue was $19.4 billion with EPS of $1.11, compared with Street views calling for revs of $19.8 billion and EPS of $1.00 per share.

  • iShares FTSE China 25 Index Fund (NYSE: FXI) down 1.23 percent to $36.96. Despite the yuan becoming more of a global currency over the weekend, shares in China are lower as traders are exercising caution on earnings expectations. Recent profit warnings were issued from Angang Steel and China Eastern Airlines.

  • PowerShares QQQ (Nasdaq: QQQ) down 1.12 percent to $65.45. Moving lower on an unusually down day from several big tech names. Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is off 2.6 percent, Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) is down nearly 3 percent, and Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) is 1.5 percent lower on the session. There's no real strong movement in the top 10 Nasdaq holdings which is able to offset some of the weakness today.
