Notable ETF Movers of the Day 01/30: (GLD) Higher; (IYT) (KOL) Lower

Gainers:

SPDR Gold Shares ETF (NYSE: GLD) gained 1 percent to 162.7. The price of gold rocketed higher following the release of U.S. Q4 GDP data. The report showed a 0.1 percent decline compared to estimates of a gain of 1 percent. This sent the price of gold to $1670 per ounce.

Decliners:

iShares Dow Jones Transportation Average ETF (NYSE: IYT) declined 1.2 percent to 103. Weakness hit railroad stocks, including Union Pacific (NYSE: UNP) and Kansas City Southern (NYSE: KSU). Union Pacific was downgraded to Neutral today by analysts at Atlantic Equities. Union Pacific is the largest holding in IYT, with a 12.8 percent weighting.

Market Vectors Coal ETF (NYSE: KOL) declined 1.2 percent to 25. It was another unimpressive day in the coal patch. Peabody Energy was a notable laggard, declining 4.5 percent. This morning it was downgraded to Sell by CLSA. Peabody has a 7.4 percent weighting in KOL.
