Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 5/12: RADN, PSS, VQ, JADE Higher; GENC, CMLS, LNG, ANSW Lower

Radyne Corporation (Nasdaq: RADN) 43.9% HIGHER; signed a definitive merger agreement to be acquired by Comtech Telecommunications Corp (Nasdaq: CMTL) for $11.50 per share in cash.

Gencor Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: GENC) 36.4% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.15, compared to $1.08 in the same quarter last year. Gencor also announced that Lloyd Miller, a Board member, resigned from the company last week on Friday. Miller was also a large shareholder, owning about 11.5% of the company.

Cumulus Media Inc. (NASDAQ: CMLS) 23.4% LOWER; entered into an agreement with the investor group led by Lew Dickey, the Company’s Chairman, President and CEO, and an affiliate of Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity, to terminate the merger agreement entered into between the Company and the investor group on July 23, 2007. The members of the investor group informed the Company that, after exploring possible alternatives, they were unable to agree on terms on which they could proceed with the transaction. The investor group has agreed to promptly pay the Company a termination fee of $15 million.

Cheniere Energy Inc. (NYSE: LNG) 20% LOWER; Citi downgrades to Hold, RBC cuts to Underperform following the company's Q1 earnings reported Friday morning.

Answers Corporation (NASDAQ: ANSW) 17.2% LOWER; reports a Q1 GAAP loss of $0.47, which may not compare to the analyst estimate of ($0.04). Revenues for the quarter were $3.03 million, versus the consensus of $2.97 million. Sees Q2 revs of $2.7-$2.8 million and FY08 revs of $13-$14 million. The Street is currently expecting Q2 revs of $3.56 million and FY08 revs of $14.85 million.

Collective Brands, Inc. (NYSE: PSS) 16.6% HIGHER; today announced that the company expects to report Q1 revs of about $932 million and EPS in the range of $0.61-$0.67. The Street expects Collective to report Q1 sales of $928.10 million and EPS of $0.54.

Venoco, Inc. (NYSE: VQ) 16% HIGHER; reports Q1 revenues of $116.45 million, versus the consensus of $110.51 million.

LJ International (Nasdaq: JADE) 15.7% HIGHER; appears to be surging on no direct news. Shares of LJ are seeing heavy volume: the stock has already traded nearly 1 million shares, compared to its average daily volume of about 195,000 shares.

Stifel Financial (NYSE: SF) 15.7% HIGHER; reports Q1 Non-GAAP EPS of $1.03 per share, versus the consensus of $0.89. Revenues came in at $211.48 million, versus the consensus of $197 million. The board of Stifel Financial Corp. authorized a 50% stock dividend which will be made in the form of a three-for-two stock split. The additional shares will be distributed on June 12, 2008, to shareholders of record May 29, 2008.

AnnTaylor (NYSE: ANN) 13.3% HIGHER; said Q1 net sales increased 2% to approximately $592 million, versus the consensus of $586.66 million. ANN sees Q1 EPS, ex-items costs, of approximately $0.45-0.47, versus its previous guidance range of $0.35-0.40 per diluted share. The Q1 EPS consensus is $0.36. The company is maintaining its previous EPS guidance range of $1.80 to $1.90, excluding restructuring costs, for the year. The full year EPS consensus is $1.83.

Standard Pacific Corp. (NYSE: SPF) 11.9% LOWER; reports a Q1 loss of $0.23, ex-items, compared to the Street consensus of ($1.22). Revenues for the quarter came in at $348.2 million, versus the consensus of $398.43 million.
