Try These Long-Dated Call Options On For Size (CMCSA, NFX, MSFT)

October 7, 2008 9:37 AM EDT

Currently, at the Value Investing Congress, Boykin Curry from Eagle Capital is talking about three long dated call options. He thinks investors should take a look at Newfield Exploration (NYSE: NFX), Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT).

Curry said Newfield Exploration is trading at a 60% discount to cash flows. If energy prices rebound, then Newfield could be a homerun. If energy prices continue to fall moderately, then you have a great investment with a great margin of safety. He sees huge, new demand as trucks and cars are potentially converted over to natural gas, but they don't need to be for this company to be successful. Walmart has talked about changing its truck fleet to natural gas.

Microsoft is currently being traded at a declining asset. Microsoft's software as a service sector could grow substianally over the upcoming years and a long-dated call option could take advantage of that trend.

Curry also likes Comcast's visible free cash flow. He says Comcast is potentially best positioned to deliver targeted, individualized advertising on television. Comcast could become the Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) of the television advertising industry.

These are long-dated call options that don’t need to pay off for many years.

Newfield Exploration Company is an independent oil and gas company engaged in the exploration, development and acquisition of natural gas and crude oil properties.
