Stifel Nicolaus downgrades Brookline Bancorp (Nasdaq: BRKL) from Buy to Hold.

The news follows Brookline's Q1 earnings: reported Q1 EPS of $0.06, 1 cent lower than the analyst estimate of $0.07. The company also declared a quarterly dividend of $0.085 per common share, payable May 15, 2009 to stockholders of record on April 30, 2009.

Shares of Brookline are trading about 3.9% lower on the results. The stock most recently traded at $9.96.
