TAUNTON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/22/09 -- Researched by Protel Associates Limited in alliance with Industrial Info Europe (Galway, Ireland) -- ScottishPower (Glasgow, Scotland) has successfully completed the pilot carbon capture and storage (CCS) project at the Longannet coal-fired power plant in Fife, on Scotland's east coast. The pilot has been running for the past three months and was the first U.K. CCS pilot to be installed at a working coal-fired plant. Although the official report is not scheduled to be published for another month, IIR Europe understands that the preliminary results show that the process is cheaper to run than originally projected.
