A number of small cap and micro cap stocks that are expected to be added to the Russell Index are seeing upside action today. Russell has already released their preliminary list of addition to the Russell 3000®, Russell 1000®, Russell 2000®, Russell Global, Russell Midcap® and Russell Microcap. Official inclusion is planned to occur when Russell reconstitutes its set of U.S. and global equity indexes today. The final membership list will be published June 29, 2009.
The Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for both passive and active investment strategies. $4 trillion in assets are currently benchmarked to them.
