Analysts at Raymond James lowered their investment ratings on several solar stocks this morning. The downgrade's come amid crude oil prices which are continuing to move unprecedentedly lower, holding under the $40 level today.

Raymond James downgraded:
  • JA Solar (Nasdaq: JASO) from Strong Buy to Outperform
  • Trina Solar (NYSE: TSL) from Outperform to Market Perform
  • A-Power Energy Generation Systems (Nasdaq: APWR) from Outperform to Market Perform
  • Aventine Renewable Energy Holdings (NYSE: AVR) from Market Perform to Underperform
  • Ascent Solar Technologies (Nasdaq: ASTI) from Market Perform to Underperform
Solar stocks are trading relatively mixed today. Shares of JA Solar are up 3.3% to $3.41, Trina Solar is up 2% to $7.24, A-Power Energy is down 5.7% to $4.95, Ascent Solar is down 5.4% to $3.69 and Aventine is down 20% to $0.79 following news yesterday after the close that the NYSE has sent Aventine a non-compliance notification.

Elsewhere in the sector: First Solar (Nasdaq: FSLR) is up 3.5% to $137.62, SunPower (Nasdaq: SPWRA) is up 1.8% to $34.60 and LDK Solar (NYSE: LDK) is down 2.1% to $12.92.
