Law Offices of Howard G. Smith Announces Investigation On Behalf of Shareholders of Edison International
BENSALEM, Pa., Nov. 19, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Law Offices of Howard G. Smith announces that it is investigating potential claims against certain executive officers and directors of Edison International ("Edison" or the "Company") (NYSE: EIX). The investigation focuses on allegations that certain Edison officers and directors caused one of Edison's operating subsidiaries to submit false and misleading customer-satisfaction rates and worker-safety data to state regulators from 1997 - 2003 to enable the subsidiary to qualify for performance bonuses it received from Californians who paid excessive rates for electricity because of the falsified data. As a result, on September 18, 2008, the Company's subsidiary was ordered to pay a total of $146 million by the California Public Utilities Commission, which found that "the evidence is overwhelming that management knew of the manipulation and falsification."
