Community Health Systems, Inc. (NYSE: CYH) announced that a subsidiary of the Company has acquired from Akron General Medical Center all of its joint venture minority interest in Massillon Community Health System, LLC, which indirectly owns and operates Affinity Medical Center, a 268-bed acute-care hospital in Massillon, Ohio. Affinity Medical Center is now wholly-owned by the Company's subsidiary. The closing was effective June 1, 2009.
