AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) has advised its customers that a $940 per ton surcharge will be added to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in October 2008.
AK Steel's surcharges are based on reported prices for raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products, with the August 2008 purchase cost used to determine the October 2008 surcharges.
AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, appliance, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets.
