Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 6/25: NYNY, LCC, JBL, HIRE Higher; LCAV, AM, PDO, APOG Lower

LCA-Vision Inc. (Nasdaq: LCAV) 20.8% LOWER; announces the resignation of Executive Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer Alan H. Buckey. Michael J. Celebrezze has been named interim Chief Financial Officer, effective at the close of business today. Since July 2007, Mr. Celebrezze has served on the Executive Management team as Senior Vice President of Finance and Treasurer, having joined LCA-Vision in July 2006 as Vice President of Finance and Treasurer.

American Greetings Corporation (NYSE: AM) 19.4% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.27, compared to $0.54 in the same quarter last year. Revenues for the quarter were $428.3 million, versus the consensus of $411.50 million. Reaffirms its previously announced FY09 EPS guidance of $1.60-$1.85, versus the consensus of $1.65.

Pyramid Oil (AMEX: PDO) 19.4% LOWER; with crude oil down more than $4 today, or about 3%, the speculative oil stocks are getting beaten down. Related stocks: Samson Oil (AMEX: SSN) down 11.7% and Fieldpoint Petroleum (AMEX: FPP) down 11.5%.

Empire Resorts Inc. (NASDAQ: NYNY) 18.9% HIGHER; Concord Associates and Empire today announced that the New York State Legislature has approved Governor David Paterson's program bill granting an enhanced revenue structure to cover expenditures, which will make possible a $1 billion dollar world-class gaming resort destination at the site of the historic Concord Hotel in Sullivan County, N.Y.

Apogee Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq: APOG) 17.7% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.36, 7 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.43. Revenues for the quarter were $238.5 million, versus the consensus of $240.38 million. Reaffirms its previously issued FY09 EPS guidance of $1.82-$1.94, versus the consensus of $1.87. Revenue growth for the year is expected to be 12-15%.

US Airways (NYSE: LCC) 15.2% HIGHER; airline stocks have been extremely volatile lately; on Thursday of last week, shares of US Airways were up more than 17%, on Friday the stock was down 11%, Monday it was down 21% and yesterday shares were down about 4%. Today's move is likely a slight correction after 3 days of sharp movement to the downside.

Jabil Circuit, Inc. (NYSE: JBL) 15.1% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.26, 6 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.20. Revenues for the quarter were $3.1 billion, versus the consensus of $3.09 billion. Sees Q4 EPS of $0.29-$0.33, versus the consensus of $0.29. Q4 revs are expected to be $3.2-$3.3 billion, versus the consensus of $3.2 billion.

HireRight (Nasdaq: HIRE) 14.6% HIGHER; proxy statement reveals higher bid from its current suitor, US Investigatins Services, and a potential third party buyer.

Pier 1 Imports, Inc. (NYSE: PIR) 14.4% HIGHER; has withdrawn its proposal to acquire all the outstanding shares of Cost Plus, Inc. (NASDAQ: CPWM) common stock. Pier 1 stated, "... it is unlikely that we would be able to acquire a majority interest in Cost Plus at a price that would make sense for our shareholders."

TomoTherapy (NASDAQ: TOMO) 13.9% HIGHER; Piper Jaffray adds Tomo to its Alpha List and reiterates its Buy rating and $14 price target. Here is StreetInsider's summary of the Piper report.

Rockwell Automation, Inc. (NYSE: ROK) 11.6% LOWER; expects to report Q3 EPS of $0.93-$1.00, below the consensus of $1.13. Given the expected Q3 results, and what appear to be less favorable market conditions in the U.S. and Europe, the Company no longer believes that full year EPS will fall within the previous annual guidance range of $4.25-$4.45. The consensus is $4.29.
