Linear Technology (Nasdaq: LLTC) 17% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.48, and non-GAAP EPS of $0.52, versus the of $0.45. Revenues for the quarter were $310.4 million, versus the consensus of $310.39 million.
Excel Maritime Carriers, Ltd. (NYSE: EXM) 10% LOWER; Baltic Dry Index down
Jones Apparel Group, Inc. (NYSE: JNY) 8% LOWER; lowers its FY08 adj-EPS guidance from $1.20-$1.35 to $0.93-$0.98, versus the consensus of $1.24. For Q3, Jones Apparel sees adj-EPS of $0.32-$0.34, versus the consensus of $0.51.
Trina Solar Limited (NYSE: TSL) 6% HIGHER; raises Q3 sales guidance from $250-$265 million to $285-$294 million, versus the consensus of $260.47 million. Gross margins for the quarter are expected to be 23%-25% with operating margins in the range of 15%-17%.
DryShips, Inc. (Nasdaq: DRYS) 6% LOWER; Baltic Dry Index down
Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE: KO) 5.6% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.83, ex-items, versus the consensus of $0.77. Revenues came in at $8.4 billion, versus the consensus of $8.54 billion
STMicroelectronics NV (NYSE: STM) 5% lower; Merrill downgrades to Underperform
Abbott (NYSE: ABT) 5% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.79, ex-items, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.77. Revenues for the quarter were $7.5 billion, versus the consensus of $7.35 billion. Raises FY08 adj-EPS guidance from $3.24-$3.28 to $3.31-$3.33, versus the consensus of $3.28.
eBay Inc. (Nasdaq: EBAY) 5% LOWER; Merrill downgrades to Underperform
Altera Corp. (Nasdaq: ALTR) 5% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.31, 1 cent better than the analyst estimate of $0.30. Revenues for the quarter were $356.8 million, versus the consensus of $354.82 million. Sees Q4 sales up 1% to down 3% sequentially.
Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) 4% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.35, 1 cent better than the analyst estimate of $0.34. Revenues for the quarter were $10.2 billion, versus the consensus of $10.26 billion. Sees Q4 sales of $10.1-$10.9 billion, versus the consensus of $10.77 billion and Q4 margins of 59%.

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE: ANF) 3% HIGHER; Credit Suisse upgrades to Outperform
Dell Inc. (Nasdaq: DELL) 3% LOWER; JPMorgan downgrades to Neutral
Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) 3% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.49, 8 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.41. Revenues for the quarter were $10.38 billion, versus the consensus of $10.96 billion. Q3 net charge offs were $1.995 billion, or 1.96% of average loans.
Genentech, Inc. (NYSE: DNA) 2% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.81, 7 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.88. Revenues for the quarter were $3.4 billion, versus the consensus of $3.36 billion. Sees FY08 EPS of $3.40-$3.45, versus the consensus of $3.44.
CSX Corporation (NYSE: CSX) 2% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.94, 1 cent better than the analyst estimate of $0.93. Revenues for the quarter were $3 billion, versus the consensus of $2.91 billion. Sees FY08 EPS at the low end of $3.65-$3.75, versus the consensus of $3.66.
JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE: JPM) 2% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.11, which may not compare to the consensus of a $0.21 loss. Revenues was $14.74 billion, versus the consensus of $16 billion. Current-quarter results include a charge of $1.2 billion (after-tax) to conform loan loss reserves and an extraordinary gain of $581 million (after-tax), related to the acquisition of Washington Mutual's banking operations, which closed on September 25, 2008.
