iPass Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS), the leading provider of global mobile connectivity, and Uber today announced a partnership to provide international Uber riders with free Wi-Fi in Rio de Janeiro. As part of the partnership, iPass will provide Uber riders with access to more than 1350 iPass commercial hotspots in Rio de Janeiro. Starting immediately, the promotion will run until August 21.

Within the Brazilian city, iPass boasts a notable footprint, with Wi-Fi coverage in elite hotels, in tourist-friendly neighborhoods, Copacabana and Ipanema, and near popular sporting venues.

"Mobility is a major challenge during an event of this magnitude," said Gui Telles, General Manager of Uber in Brazil. "To help Uber riders have a seamless experience, we are partnering with iPass to provide access to Wi-Fi all around Rio."

"We are extremely excited to be working with Uber to provide Wi-Fi access to its international rider base in Rio," said Gary Griffiths, president and CEO of iPass. "Like Uber, iPass is in the business of connecting people. And therefore, we see this as a natural partnership."
