comScore (SCOR) Reports Market Share for Top Five OEMs, Smartphone Platforms to January 2010 (AAPL, MSFT, MOT, RIMM, more...)

comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR) released a report today highlighting the top five original equipment manufacturers and the top five smartphone platforms for U.S. market from November 2009 through January 2010.

Leading the OEM ranks was Motorola [22.9% share] down 1.2 points from October 2009. LG was second [21.7% share], down 0.3 points, Samsung [21.1% share] gained 0.1 points, followed by Nokia [9.1% share]. Research in Motion [7.8% share] made a 1.4 point surge for the period.

234 million Americans were mobile phone subscribers, counting users 13 years of age and older.

For smartphones, RIM [43% share] led the pack, up 1.7 points. Apple [25.1% share] was second, Microsoft [15.7% share] third, but down 4 points. Google [7.1% share] and Palm [5.7% share] rounded out the top five.

42.7 million Americans used a smartphone for the period from November 2009 through January 2010, an 18% increase from the August 2009 through October 2009 period.
