Alexza Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ALXA) 73.3% HIGHER; announced today that it has exercised its option to purchase all of the equity of Symphony Allegro. Matrixx Initiatives Inc. (Nasdaq: MTXX) 55.5% LOWER; sinking on news that the company received an warning on Zicam from the FDA. The FDA has ordered Matrixx to pull the drug from store shelves.

STEC Inc. (Nasdaq: STEC) 29.1% HIGHER; raises its Q2 non-GAAP EPS guidance from $0.20-$0.22 to $0.32-$0.36. The Street is currently looking for Q2 adj-EPS of $0.21. Sales for the quarter move from $68-$70 million to $82-$84 million, which compares to the analyst consensus estimate of $69.05 million.

EMCORE Corporation (Nasdaq: EMKR) 26.8% HIGHER; is seeing interst this morning announced that it has been awarded a contract to manufacture, test, and deliver solar panels for NASA's Global Precipitation Measurement spacecraft. The contract, valued at approximately $5 million, will be managed by MEI Technologies, Inc. for the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

Ashford Hospitality Trust (NYSE: AHT) 22.4% LOWER; Baird downgrades the stock from Neutral to Underperform. Price target $2.

La-Z-Boy Inc. (NYSE: LZB) 21.2% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.07, ex-items, versus the analyst estimate of ($0.11) and compared to a loss of $0.05 in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter was $284.5 million, versus the consensus of $297.38 million.

Satyam (NYSE: SAY) 20% HIGHER; jumping today following news earlier that the company will cut real estate costs by terminating the lease contracts of four of its facilities in Hyderabad.

Synergetics USA, Inc. (NASDAQ: SURG) 18.9% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.02, compared to $0.05 in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter was $13.2 million, versus $13.5 million in Q308.

American CareSource Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANCI) 18.1% LOWER; expects revenues for the full year of 2009 to be in the range of $70 - $85 million compared to $85 - $95 million as had previously been reported. The Wall Street consensus is $88 million.

McMoRan Exploration Co. (NYSE: MMR) 16.6% LOWER; announced today that it has commenced a public offering of approximately 11 million shares of common stock. The underwriters have an option to purchase from McMoRan up to an additional 1.65 million common shares to cover overallotments, if any.
