Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 1/9: PALM, HWAY, RAMS, AMMD Higher; RGN, WSCI, RMBS, OREX Lower
RegeneRx Biopharma (AMEX: RGN) 43.4% LOWER; announced the outcome of its Phase II clinical trial evaluating the safety and wound-healing efficacy of RGN-137 for the treatment of patients with chronic pressure ulcers. RGN-137 is a topical gel formulation of thymosin beta 4 peptide (Tβ4). The drug candidate was found to be safe and well-tolerated at all three dose levels, with no drug-related serious adverse events, which was the primary objective of the study. Regarding the secondary objective of the study, there were no statistically significant differences observed for complete wound healing or the rate of wound healing between the placebo group and any of the three RGN-137 dose levels. The mid-dose level of RGN-137 was observed to offer more rapid initiation of wound healing when compared to placebo, although this improvement was not statistically significant.

Healthways (Nasdaq: HWAY) 34.5% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.37, 1 cent better than the analyst estimate of $0.36. Revenue for the quarter was $185.4 million, versus the consensus of $179.54 million. Jefferies also upgraded the stock from Underperform to Hold earlier.
WSI Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: WSCI) 33% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.04, versus $0.14 in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter was $6.035 million, compared to $5.975 million in Q108. The company also will not declare a dividend this quarter.
Aries Maritime Transport Limited (Nasdaq: RAMS) 31.3% HIGHER; most of the drybulk shipping sector is trading higher today. Elsewhere in the sector: DryShips (Nasdaq: DRYS) up 10.8%, Navios Maritime (NYSE: NM) up 7%, TBS Int'l (Nasdaq: TBSI) up 6.5%.
Rambus (Nasdaq: RMBS) 30.6% LOWER; hearing reports that a judge has ordered that Rambus can't enforce patents against Micron (NYSE: MU). Notably, as the news hit just after noon, today's slide has occurred intraday.
American Medical Systems Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMMD) 19.7% HIGHER; yesterday evening reported Q4 preliminary sales of $134 million, compared to $130 million reported in the same quarter last year and compared to the Street consensus of $129.54 million.
Orexigen(R) Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: OREX) 19.2% LOWER; today announced that the first of four Phase 3 trials of its lead investigational product Contrave(R) (naltrexone sustained release (SR)/bupropion SR) met its co-primary and key secondary endpoints, showing a significant reduction in body weight, improvements in markers of cardiovascular risk and reductions in selected food craving measures. SYNNEX Corporation (NYSE: SNX) 18.4% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.80, 10 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.70. Revenue for the quarter was $2.1 billion, versus the consensus of $2.14 billion. Sees Q1 sales of $1.74-$1.84 billion, versus the consensus of $1.87 billion, and EPS of $0.50-$0.53, versus the Street estimate of $0.51.
