Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 12/30: EMAG, SVNT, IRM, ALY Higher; SIL, APWR, RICK, EVR Lower

Emageon Inc. (Nasdaq: EMAG) 66.4% HIGHER; Health Systems Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: HSSO) and Emageon have agreed to extend the closing date for their pending merger to February 11, 2009.

Apex Silver Mines Limited (AMEX: SIL) 42.6% LOWER; has received notice from NYSE Alternext US LLC that it is not in compliance with the Exchange's continued listing standards in that it has sustained losses that are so substantial in relation to its overall operations or existing financial resources, or its financial condition has become so impaired that it appears questionable, in the opinion of the Exchange, as to whether it will be able to continue operations and/or meet its obligations as they mature. The Company does not expect that it will be able to regain compliance with this listing standard and expects that the Exchange will commence delisting proceedings with respect to the Company's ordinary shares in early January 2009. The Company does not expect that it will appeal any decision by the Exchange to delist the ordinary shares. The Company anticipates that upon delisting of the ordinary shares, the ordinary shares will commence trading in the over-the-counter market.

Savient Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: SVNT) 24.4% HIGHER; announced that the U.S. FDA has accepted for review the Company's Biologics License Application for pegloticase, a novel biological drug for treatment-failure gout patients. The FDA also granted the Company's BLA with a priority review status which accelerates the review period to six months. A priority review designation is assigned to drugs that are deemed by the FDA to have the potential to provide an important advancement in treatment or provide a treatment for which there is no adequate therapy available. Under priority review, the target date for an FDA decision on the pegloticase BLA is April 30, 2009.

A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (Nasdaq: APWR) 19.7% LOWER; lowers its Q4 sales guidance from $158 million to $76 million and its net income guidance from $15.5 million to about $5 million. The Street is currently expecting Q4 sales of $126.24 million.

Iron Mountain Inc. (NYSE: IRM) 13.6% HIGHER; will replace UST Inc. (NYSE: UST) in the S&P 500 after the close of trading on a date to be announced.

Allis-Chalmers Energy Inc. (NYSE: ALY) 13.5% HIGHER; today announced the execution of a share purchase agreement to acquire all of BrazAlta Resources Corp’s remaining equity interest in BCH Ltd. for $5 million. The closing of the transaction is anticipated by December 31, 2008 and will result in Allis-Chalmers owning all of the outstanding capital stock of BCH.

Rick's Cabaret International Inc. (Nasdaq: RICK) 12.3% LOWER; reports FY08 EPS of $0.91, 9 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $1.00 and compared to $0.50 reported last year. Revenue for the quarter was $59.93 million, versus the consensus of $59.99 million and $32.01 million in FY07.

Teekay Corp. (NYSE: TK) 10.2% HIGHER; with oil down about 3% to under $39 today, dry bulk shippers are seeing upside.

Elizabeth Arden (Nasdaq: RDEN) 10% HIGHER; Wedbush Morgan upgrades Elizabeth Arden from Hold to Buy. Price target $15.

Evercore Partners (NYSE: EVR) 9.1% LOWER; Keefe, Bruyette and Woods downgrades Evercore from Outperform to Market Perform. Price target lowered to $14.50 from $16.00.

Virage Logic Corporation (NASDAQ: VIRL) 8.5% LOWER; lowers its Q1 sales guidance from $15.5-$16 million to $11-$11.5 million, versus the consensus of $15.7 million. Also moves its non-GAAP EPS outlook from $0.02-$0.04 to a loss of $0.08-$0.06. The Street is expecting Q1 non-GAAP gain of $0.01.
