Following the announcement earlier that Viacom (Nasdaq: VIAB) and DirecTV (Nasdaq: DTV) entered a new carriage, one question remained: how much is the deal worth?
According to reports from Bloomberg Friday, a person familiar with the matter said Viacom will be getting a 20 percent payday boost, to the tune of $600 million from DirecTV per year.
The new carriage replaces a seven-year-old contract and comes following salvo over the last few weeks from both sides during negotiations. Viacom blacked-out broadcasting for 10 days before the deal was reached today.
Currently, DirecTV boasts about 20 million subs in the U.S. Shares of DirecTV are lower Friday, while Viacom is up 1 percent in early trading.
