Macy's (NYSE: M), Sears (Nasdaq: SHLD), Kohl's Corp. (NYSE: KSS) and J.C. Penney (NYSE: JCP) were accused by L.A. city's attorney of misleading shoppers by advertising sale items with bogus original prices. Lawsuits were filed against the four companies.
