UPDATE: JetBlue (JBLU) to Break from Tradition and Test 'Start-From-Scratch' Pilot Training Program

JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ: JBLU) to shake-up hiring on start-from-scratch pilot training, according to Boomberg.
UPDATE - JetBlues move to hire potential pilots with no flight experience and train them would be the first-of-its-kind program in the U.S. Some carriers in Europe and Asia have adopted similar programs.
Candidates would need to meet U.S. requirements for commercial pilot certification.
The initiative would be called Gateway 7 and would begin on a trial basis in 2016.
One spokesperson for JetBlue commented: We can assess early whether someone would make a great JetBlue pilot and get them on the path ... If successful, this program will help us continue finding the best pilots in the industry well into the future.
Shares of JetBlue are down 1 percent.
