Transocean (RIG) Currently Evacuating Rigs in Gulf; Sees More Evacuations as Gustav Nears -DJ
Dow Jones is reporting that Transocean (NYSE: RIG) is currently evacuating 30 non-essential personnel from its rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and the company expects more evacuations to come. According to reports, Transocean has 11 oil and gas drilling rigs in the Gulf that will likely be affected by Gustav, which is expected to become a hurricane soon.
Despite oil being up almost $2 today on the Gustav concerns, shares of Transocean are currently down on the day. The stock most recently traded at $130.10, down $0.15, or 0.09%, from yesterday's close.
Transocean, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, provides offshore contract drilling services for oil and gas wells.
