Proxim Wireless Corporation, a global pioneer of end-to-end solutions in Wi-Fi Mesh, WiMAX, WLAN, and wireless backhaul and wholly owned subsidiary of Terabeam, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRBM), announce a master technology licensing agreement under which Proxim Wireless will license to CPqD its complete WiMAX hardware and software turnkey reference designs for CPqD to modify, localize, and then sublicense to Brazilian OEMs for in-country manufacturing of WiMAX products.
This agreement will make Proxim's WiMAX technology available for manufacture in Brazil, resulting in products tailored specifically to the Latin American market, thus increasing the growth of WiMAX broadband connectivity throughout the region. According to market research firm Maravedis, the total accumulated equipment market size for BWA/WiMAX in Brazil will represent US$300 million by 2010.
