Si-LAN (WILN) Files Lawsuit Against BlackBerry (BBRY) Over LTE Technology

BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) shares are higher on the session amid a new lawsuit being brought against the company. The following was a release earlier this afternoon:

Wi-LAN Inc. (Nasdaq: WILN) announced it has initiated new litigation claiming patent infringement in the Southern District of Florida against Research In Motion Limited ("RIM"), which is believed to be doing business under the name "Blackberry".

The suit against RIM claims infringement of U.S. Patent No. 8,274,991 which relates to LTE-compliant mobile handsets.

WiLAN will be represented by Carlson, Caspers, Vandenburgh, Lindquist & Schuman, P.A..
