Sanofi (SNY) May Cut Up to 2,000 Jobs; Will Stop Certain Operations, Research

Sanofi (NYSE: SNY) shares are indicated for a lower open Thursday as the company is painting a rather dire outlook for the rest of 2012.
According to a spokesperson speaking with Bloomberg, job cuts will be coming at Sanofi as the company looks to realign itself for further growth. In addition to striking up talks with unions, Sanofi is looking to trim 2,000, though no specific number has been given.
The pharma plans to shut down Montpellier research, end research at Toulouse, and cut more jobs at its Pasteur vaccine unit. The spokesperson affirmed that all options remain open for the Toulouse site.
Shares are down about 0.6 percent in early trading.
