S&P Announces Changes to US Index: TYC for SII, MDRX for AFFX

Tyco International (NYSE: TYC) will replace Smith Intl. Inc. (NYSE: SII) in the S&P 500 after the close of trading on August 26, 2010. S&P 100 & 500 constituent Schlumberger Ltd. (NYSE: SLB) is acquiring Smith Intl. in a deal expected to be completed on or about that date, pending final approvals.

Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions (NASDAQ: MDRX) will replace Affymetrix, Inc. (NASDAQ: AFFX) in the S&P MidCap 400, and Affymetrix will replace Eclipsys Corp. (NASDAQ: ECLP) in the S&P SmallCap 600 on a date to be announced. Eclipsys is being acquired by Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions in a deal expected to be completed soon pending final approvals.
