Conseco, Inc. (NYSE: CNO) 23.2% HIGHER; announced preliminary Q2 net income of $86.7 million which was up 47% from last year. Net operating income per diluted share was $0.22, up 69% from last year. Net income per diluted share in the range of 9 cents to 15 cents, compared to a net loss per diluted share of $2.65 in 2Q08.
ViroPharma Inc. (Nasdaq: VPHM) 21.3% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.20, or adjusted EPS of $0.38, well above the consensus of $0.18. Revenuse came in at $81.9 million, versus the consensus of $75.5 million. ViroPharma sees 2009 CINRYZE net sales of $80-$95 million.
WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG) 20.1% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $1.42, ex-items, versus the analyst estimate of $0.40. Revenue for the quarter was $1.8 billion, versus the consensus of $1.77 billion. Sees FY09 EPS of $2.75-$2.95, versus the consensus of $2.07, and sales of $6.75-$6.85 billion, versus the Street estimate of $6.9 billion.
THQ (Nasdaq: THQI) 17.4% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.10 ex-items, 18 cents better than the analyst estimate of ($0.08). Revenue for the quarter was $243.5 million, versus the consensus of $203 million. Sees 2010 sales above 2009. Expects to achieve profitability in FY10. Brandywine Realty Trust (NYSE: BDN) 14.9% HIGHER; reports Q2 FFO of $0.56 vs. consensus of $0.36. Revenues were $145.9 million vs. $144.17 million consensus. Kulicke & Soffa (Nasdaq: KLIC) 12% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of ($0.20), 9 cents better than the analyst estimate of ($0.29). Revenue for the quarter was $52.1 million, versus the consensus of $42.60 million.
MEDTOX Scientific, Inc. (Nasdaq: MTOX) 11.1% HIGHER; received 510(k) clearance from the FDA to market its PROFILE(r)-V MEDTOXScan(r) Drugs-of-Abuse Test System with three additional drugs -- Oxycodone, Propoxyphene and Tricyclic Anitidepressants.
The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR) 10.7% LOWER; reports a Q2 loss of $0.21 vs. consensus for $0.12 loss. Revenues were $828.9 million vs. $878.45 million consensus. As a result of the company's global market outlook, it reduced its earnings estimate for 2009, now expecting earnings per share, excluding special items, to be a loss of $(0.40) to $(0.90). The company remains on track to deliver strong cash from operations in 2009, driven by effective working capital management and reduced spending. (FY-09 EPS consensus is $0.04 profit)
Tegal Corporation, (Nasdaq: TGAL) 10.6% HIGHER; launched ProNova(TM), the company's third-generation high-density Inductively Coupled Plasma reactor for Tegal DRIE Series Wafer Processing Products. Targeted for fast-growing MEMS and 3D IC applications, delivery of the ProNova has already begun, with the first order going to a new Tegal customer in the EU (see related announcement).
Penn National Gaming, Inc. (Nasdaq: PENN) 10.3% LOWER; reports Q2 adj-EPS of $0.32, 4 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.36. Revenue for the quarter was $580.8 million, versus the consensus of $594.51 million. Sees Q3 sales of about $651.4 million, versus the consensus of $639.65 million, with GAAP EPS of about $0.35, which compares to the Street estimate of $0.38. Raises its FY09 sales guidance from $2.478 billion to $2.463 billion, versus the consensus of $2.46 billion. EPS for the year lowered from $1.38 to $1.28, which compares to the Street estimate of $1.45.
Wright Express Corporation (NYSE: WXS) 9.8% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.57, ex-items, 17 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.40. Revenue for the quarter was $78.6 million, versus the consensus of $74.51 million. Sees Q3 sales of $78-$83 million, versus the consensus of $79.35 million, with adj-EPS of $0.54-$0.59, which compares to the Street estimate of $0.44. For FY09, sales are expected to be in the range of $300-$310 million, versus the consensus of $299.40 million. EPS for the year are expected to be $1.94-$2.04, versus the Street estimate of $1.68.
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (NYSE: RCL) 9.6% LOWER; reports Q2 loss of $0.16 (including $0.05 per share from the impact of the H1N1 virus and approximately $0.11 from non-operating expenses related to foreign exchange adjustments and hedging ineffectiveness), 3 cents lower than the analyst estimate of ($0.13) and compared to a gain of $0.40 in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter was $1.3 billion, versus the consensus of $1.36 billion. Sees Q3 EPS of $0.95-$1.00, versus the consensus of $1.22. Superior Energy Services (NYSE: SPN) 9.4% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.35, versus the analyst estimate of $0.44. Revenue for the quarter was $361.2 million, versus the consensus of $392.31 million.
McKesson Corporation (NYSE: MCK) 8.9% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $1.06, 20 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.86. Revenue for the quarter was $26.7 billion, versus the consensus of $26.78 billion. Raises FY10 EPS to $4.15-$4.30, versus the consensus of $3.99. Upgraded to Outperform at Baird.
