Will Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) be the nail in Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) tablet coffin? Maybe, according to reports out Friday.
DigiTimes said Google Android-based PC tablets will be the "cock-of-the-walk" in the third-quarter 2012, taking a dominant position in the market as vendors won't rush to start shipping Windows 8-based tablets until the following quarter.
Factors influencing the delay include lagging demand as well as expanded testing time for the new OS. Another concern of vendors is Microsoft's move to invest $300 million in Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS), whose current line of NOOK readers rolls on the Android platform.
Originally expected for a second-quarter launch, the delay in Windows 8 will give Android tablets a key window of opportunity ahead of the holiday 2012 shopping season. The third quarter is more famously set aside for the "type A" holiday gift-giver...the one's who will brag about "already being done" with Christmas/Chanukah/Festivus shopping in the middle of September, when wearing white pants is still appropriate. For the other 99.9 percent of procrastinating human beings, the delay in Windows 8 tablets shouldn't be a problem.
Oh, and Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL).

Did the writer even do ANY research?
This article is silly and not based on any facts that I can see.
There is no Win8 "delay"
Windows 8 has always been scheduled to ship in 2012. This is a PR hit piece (Google?)
Facts?
Their are none here. what kind on nonsense is this?
Huh?
When was a 2nd quarter release ever mentioned? Did you just make this up?

Microsoft is way way under valued.
