General Motors (NYSE: GM) shares are rebounding following a dip earlier on reports it's recalling over 400,000 of its Chevy Cruze models due to an issue with the heat shied.
It's a very worthy cause; about 475,418 models will be recalled to fix the under-engine shield so that flammable liquids are not trapped in the engine compartment.
In total 413,418 units in the U.S. will be under recall, as well 61,299 in Canada, and 701 in "Other."
Also of note, the recall only affects models made at GM's Lordstown, OH, plant covering model years 2011 and 2012. Reuters cited GM in saying the design was different there than other places the Cruze was made.
Recalls will begin in mid-July.
Shares of GM are down 0.3 percent Friday.
