Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) is expected to unveil its critical new smartphone platform in Q1 2013, according to reports from DigiTimes. The world's largest chipmaker is expected to continue to focus smartphone efforts on emerging market economies, and may find support from a few China carriers that provide entry level smartphones. In the past, international carriers Lenovo, ZTE, India-based Lava, and Motorola Mobility adopted Intel's Medfield platform, but so far sales have been poor.
The unveiling is expected to take place at the 2013 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, February 25th to 28th.
