High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC) Monday reported a sour quarter and gave an even more dismal outlook.

The competitor of Samsung, ZTE, Motorola (NYSE: MMI), Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), Nokia (NYSE: NOK), and others, said fourth-quarter 2011 revs fell 2.5 percent to NT$101.42 billion while EPS fell 28.5 percent from NT$18.26 during the same quarter last year to NT$13.06.

Gross profit margins shrank from 30 percent down to 27.1 percent.

Looking ahead, HTC sees first-quarter revs of NT$65 billion to NT$70 billion, significantly lower than fourth-quarter numbers and the NT$84 billion expected by analysts. Gross margins should further consolidate to about 25 percent.

CFO Winston Yung said most of the weakness for its first-quarter outlook came from increasing competition from Apple and Samsung in the U.S. market.

HTC ended Monday's session down about 5.2 percent.
