Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) lost a little U.S. search market share in July, but it wasn't to rival Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT).
According to comScore, Google's U.S. search market share fell from 65.5 to 65.1 percent, a modest decline. Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) held flat at 14.4 percent in July, compared with June.
Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) took up the loss by Google, making a 0.2 point gain to 16.1 percent.
One analyst noted that Google typically has more summer seasonality than other search engines, given the high-usage among college-aged users.
After a 5 percent gain yesterday, Google is showing some pre-market weakness Wednesday. Yahoo! is just about flat ahead of the bell.
