Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC) announced that its Pennsylvania subsidiary, Pennsylvania Health & Wellness, has been selected by the departments of Human Services (DHS) and Aging to serve enrollees in the Community HealthChoices program statewide, pending regulatory approval and successful completion of readiness review.
The five-year agreement, with an option to renew for two additional years, is expected to commence July 1, 2017, in the Southwest zone. The Southeast zone will go-live on January 1, 2018, and the remainder of the state will go-live on January 1, 2019. Under the agreement, Pennsylvania Health & Wellness will coordinate physical health and long-term services and supports (LTSS), if needed, to enhance the quality of medical care and access to all appropriate services to more than 420,000 individuals who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, older Pennsylvanians and individuals with disabilities.
"Having grown up in Altoona, Pennsylvania, it is particularly rewarding that our 10th state managing care for participants in long term services and support programs is in Pennsylvania," said Michael F. Neidorff, Chairman, President and CEO for Centene. "Centene serves more than 210,000 participants in managed LTSS programs and today, we have the largest managed LTSS membership. We look forward to bringing our expertise to the Commonwealth, giving participants more choice in their healthcare options and empowerment to help them lead healthy lifestyles."
"Pennsylvania Health & Wellness is humbled to be selected to serve Pennsylvanians who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, and individuals with physical disabilities," said Brent Layton, Executive Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer for Centene. "We share a common goal with the Commonwealth of increasing opportunities for these individuals to live healthy lifestyles in their homes and in their communities. We look forward to bringing our comprehensive, integrated healthcare programs and services to Pennsylvanians and enable all beneficiaries to live in the least restrictive setting."
